According to collected figures for April, Spain continues to have the highest EU unemployment rate, with 10.9 percent as Eurostat calculates.
Next in line is Finland at 9.1 percent and Sweden at 8.6. Greece – which in the wake of the euro crisis reached a low point of 28.1 percent unemployment in July 2013 – is now "only" four from the bottom, at 8.3 percent, 0.6 percentage points lower than in March.
Overall, unemployment in the EU remained unchanged at 5.9 percent compared to March. In the eurozone, unemployment decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 6.2 percent.
The lowest unemployment rate is found in the Czech Republic and Malta, both at 2.7 percent.
