National team captain Peter Gerhardsson presented a few real surprises in the starting eleven for Friday evening's match at Ennio Tardini Stadium, which begins at 6:20 pm.

Midfielder Felicia Schröder and defender Smilla Holmberg both make their A-national team debut with their starting positions.

Kosovare Asllani is benched and Champions League final heroine Stina Blackstenius, who had a fever earlier in the week, is outside the team.

Several Arsenal players, including Blackstenius and Amanda Ilestedt, have had illness problems after the Champions League title on Saturday. They are not on the bench, just like teammate Lina Hurtig.

Sweden's starting eleven (4-3-3): Jennifer Falk – Smilla Holmberg, Nathalie Björn, Magdalena Eriksson (team captain), Amanda Nildén – Filippa Angeldahl, Felicia Schröder, Julia Zigiotti Olme – Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Rebecka Blomqvist, Fridolina Rolfö.

Italy's starting eleven (3-5-2): Laura Giuliani – Lucia Di Guglielmo, Cecilia Salvai, Elena Linari – Barbara Bonansea, Arianna Caruso, Manuela Giugliano, Emma Severini, Elisabetta Oliviero – Sofia Cantore, Martina Piemonte.
