Sweden has selected its team for the biathlon sprint at the Olympics in Italy, where Malte Stefansson will make his Olympic debut.

Swedish biathletes have yet to win an Olympic medal.

Now it's time for sprints, on Friday for the men and Saturday for the women.

National team coach Johannes Lukas is making changes to the men's team. Malte Stefansson will be given a chance, replacing Viktor Brandt, who was selected for the distance race earlier at the Games.

"It's not that we're unhappy with Viktor in the distance; we think it's fair that both get to race," says Lukas.

On the women's side, Sweden will field the same team as in the distance race: Hanna Öberg, Elvira Öberg, Anna Magnusson and Linn Gestblom.

These athletes also compete in Sunday's pursuit start, which is based on results from the sprint. At the championships, everyone gets to compete in the pursuit after the sprint; in the World Cup, the top 60 do.
