Sweden's largest hydroelectric power plant will replace the dam gate – to the first in fossil-free steel.

The gate, which weighs 120 tons, will be the world's largest steel component made of almost fossil-free steel, produced with iron sponge from a pilot plant in Luleå, co-owned by SSAB, LKAB and Vattenfall.

The order for the hydroelectric power plant Stornorrfors in Ume River is made by Vattenfall. In 2028, the dam gate is to be installed, according to the state-owned energy giant.
