"I hope that we can now, as allies, put this behind us," Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) told Sveriges Radio Ekot.
On Tuesday evening, Swedish time, representatives of the United States, Greenland and Denmark signed an agreement that, among other things, includes two new American military bases on the island, which will continue to be self-governing.
Maria Malmer Stenergard sees previous American attempts to take over Greenland as something that may have led to increased suspicion.
"This has damaged trust within NATO in particular. This is not how you behave towards your allies," she told Ekot.
