After Sweden's stunning quarterfinal victory against Canada, one of the two previous U18 World Cup champions, the Czech Republic, the other former champion, now awaited as Sweden hunted a spot in the final.
For a long time, they looked like an overwhelming opponent. Modo's Elton Hermansson equalized to make it 1-1 early on, but then the Czech Republic stepped up.
After just over half the match was played, Sweden was trailing 1–3.
Then Örebro's Alexander Command sparked hope by cutting the deficit, and Sweden were not done. Wiggo Sörensson equalized to make it 3–3, and the match was decided in sudden death.
There, Bosse Meijer won it for Sweden in sudden death with only seconds left.
The final awaits host nation Slovakia. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
