Blågult pushed on in the first half and got the chance from eleven meters just before the break. Captain Roony Bardghji stepped forward – but missed from the penalty spot. The halftime result was therefore 0–0.
Also after the break, Sweden was the team in control of the game but the goals were slow to come. National team coach Daniel Bäckström then chose to bring in Jonah Kusi-Asare and Jeremy Agbonifo, something that would soon pay off. Ten minutes after his substitution, Kusi-Asare made it 1–0 with a nice chip, played forward by Bardghji.
Agbonifo did not want to be worse. With about 20 minutes left, he placed the 2–0 goal.
With a quarter left, another penalty was awarded to Sweden. Bardghji took responsibility again – and this time he got his revenge by elegantly chipping in 3–0, which also became the final result.
The U21 national team plays next on Tuesday. Then Montenegro will be the opponent in the qualifying match for the European Championship 2027. The match is played in Podgorica.
