The 43-year-old led the Swedish curling team to a historic silver medal at the Paralympics in China four years ago. In Italy, the team, with four of five players the same as the silver team, came close to reaching the final again but fell in the semi-finals to China.

However, the blue and yellow would get revenge in Cortina.

They also left the Paralympics with bronze medals.

“Everything will work out”

"To go home in fourth place would have been devastating. It would have been tough. You put so much time and energy into this for several years to get here," said Viljo Petersson-Dahl.

When you're here, you want everything to go well. To miss the semi-final against China and lose a bronze medal match... No.

Yang Hui-Tae's miss in the sixth gave Sweden a clear lead and a 5–2 advantage with two rounds left to play.

"He chose wrong and gave us a second place, you could say," said Petersson-Dahl.

The ending in Cortina still offered drama.

In the following round, South Korea took second place, and was only one point behind Sweden heading into the final. However, the blue and yellow team, who had the hammer, held on and ultimately secured the medal.

"Proud"

"I'm so proud of the team. I'm incredibly happy that we were able to recharge. We had an incredibly good match against China and it was a blast to cross the finish line. We really wanted to go for the gold, even though our performance has been a roller coaster during these Paralympics," said Petersson-Dahl.

But to win the bronze medal match... Incredibly important and incredibly nice.

The bronze is Sweden's seventh medal in the Paralympics. Alpine skier Ebba Årsjö has previously won three golds and one bronze, and Zebastian Modin has secured two bronzes in the long jump.
