Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) is unhappy that the Commission has so far been unwilling to act on a Swedish-French push for expanded trade sanctions against Israeli settlements.
"I am a little surprised and irritated by the discussion that is going on, where it is claimed that the middle path chosen by France and Sweden would entail a requirement for unanimity - because it does not," she says in connection with Monday's EU foreign ministers' meeting in Luxembourg.
Sweden could consider forcing a proposal, with the help of a simple majority of EU countries.
After Monday's meeting, however, EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas promises to make the demand and ask the Commission to come up with "different options."
