Doping-convicted biathlete Jevgenij Ustjugov has had his appeal rejected by the highest court in Switzerland. Thus, Sweden gets to keep its relay medals at the Olympic Games and World Championship.

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) and the International Biathlon Union's Integrity Unit (BIU) announced in a press release.

Five years ago, the Russian was retroactively banned between 2010 and 2014 by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), due to manipulating his blood values. His results were stricken, including losing three Olympic Games medals, two in Vancouver 2010 and relay gold at the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014.

As a result of the stricken results, the Swedish relay team was given an Olympic Games bronze from Vancouver 2010 and a World Championship bronze from Chanty-Mansijsk 2011 – which now remains.

Greg McKenna, BIU's chairman, said that the Swiss Supreme Court's decision is an "important step" in maintaining a "clean sport".
