Sweden is competing for medals in the Junior World Championship in ice hockey in Finnish Vanda. This is clear after the 4-1 victory in the quarterfinals against Switzerland.
In the semifinals on Saturday, reigning champion USA awaits.
The teams met in the group stage, and then the Swedish team lost 0-3 despite a strong performance.
In the other semifinal, Canada will face the Czech Republic.
One of the players behind the advancement was the youngest in the blue-yellow squad: 15-year-old Ebba Hesselvall.
Hesselvall scored her first goal in the tournament when she decided the group stage finale against Japan with just seconds left of overtime. In the quarterfinals, she scored her second, crucial 3-0 goal in a numerical superiority halfway through the second period.
It's been tough to get into the tempo and level. But I think I've gotten into it now and started producing a bit, said Hesselvall to SVT after the second period.
She was the big surprise when the Junior World Championship squad was presented. As recently as last autumn, she scored points for Södermanland in TV-pucken, but despite her young age, she's already showing that she has qualities that hold up internationally.
However, much tougher challenges await this weekend.
Edit Danielsson, who scored the 1-0 goal against Switzerland – her fourth in the tournament – is not afraid of the opposition.
We have a great chance, says Danielsson to SVT.
