The Government and Sida are now presenting a package of 775 million kronor in humanitarian aid. The focus is on more support to Ukraine and life-saving efforts.

The government is now making reprioritizations in the aid budget. One reason is that the USA, which is one of the largest aid donors in the world, has significantly reduced its humanitarian aid.

It is a death sentence for many. Sweden cannot cover all the holes that this creates, but we are scaling up in Ukraine and to life-saving humanitarian efforts, says Minister for Development Cooperation Benjamin Dousa (The Moderate Party).

The government's part of the package is 375 million kronor. It will go, among other things, to the UN's food program, Unicef and the UN's disaster aid.

The needs are enormous, says Dousa.

Sida is contributing 400 million kronor which will go to ten serious crises, including Sudan, Palestine, Syria and Yemen.
