Before the men's national football team's World Cup qualifying match at home against Switzerland, boos were heard during the Swiss national anthem. Now the Swedish Football Association has been fined 60,000 kronor by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) for "inappropriate behavior."

"We are of course very happy about and appreciate all the great support and commitment that our supporters repeatedly show for our national teams. At the same time, we want to emphasize the importance of always showing respect for our opponents and we therefore regret the booing that occurred during the Swiss national anthem," says the federation's acting secretary general Tobias Tibell in a statement.

The decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee will not be appealed.

Sweden lost the match at Strawberry Arena 0–2.
