The Sweden Democrats are still the largest party on social media, according to this year's Power Barometer.

Were the exposure on social media to be converted into hypothetical vote numbers, all the Riksdag parties would actually pass the "four percent threshold" this year. This is according to the Power Barometer, which is produced by the Media Academy, and which measures who reaches and engages the most Swedes on Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, Youtube and X.

Two new parties also pass the "four percent threshold" on social media: Alternative for Sweden and Citizens' Assembly. The red-green opposition parties, such as V, Green party and C, are also moving forward, while the Social Democrats are losing heavily compared to 2021, which the SD is also doing.

The survey can, according to the Media Academy, provide an indication of how easy it will be for different parties to mobilize voters in the next election. However, it does not necessarily lead to continued spread.

"The influence is primarily indirect by creating opportunities to influence the political conversation", says Henrik Ekengren Oscarsson, professor at the University of Gothenburg, at the Media Academy, in a press release.

Generally, the right-wing parties have a stronger grip on social media. On X, the Media Academy sees an even greater right-wing dominance than before.
