SD party leader Jimmie Åkesson has previously said that he wants to see life imprisonment for pedophiles who commit sexual crimes against children – or that they castrate themselves.
Now the party wants to go a step further and make even child pornography crimes a starting point for punishment with secure detention.
The new penalty, which will be introduced this spring, involves indefinite imprisonment for serious violent and sexual crimes.
You are then locked up until it can be assessed that the risk of recidivism is so low that it is justified to release you. That is how you should view this type of criminal, says Henrik Vinge, SD's legal policy spokesperson.
Surgical castration
The sentence should be imposed only after the person agrees to treatment, such as chemical castration. Jimmie Åkesson has said that surgical castration could also be a possibility.
In some cases, it could probably eliminate the risk of relapse, says Vinge.
The punishment should apply regardless of the seriousness of the crime, he continues.
Today, aggravated child pornography offenses can result in a maximum of six years in prison.
While waiting to get other parties on board with the proposal, SD wants to introduce a new crime category - particularly serious child pornography crime - which could result in a life sentence.
Computer ban
The party also wants to see a lifetime ban on possession of electronic equipment, such as computers and mobile phones. Anyone who violates the ban should be sentenced to prison.
When this type of person is released, as happens today, and they have committed child pornography crimes using their computer, they should be banned from possessing that type of equipment, says Vinge.
Several parties within the Tidö Partnership have made statements on the subject recently; both the Moderates and the Christian Democrats have said that they want to review the possibility of chemically castrating pedophiles.
I see the conditions as very good for us to be able to implement this next term, says Vinge about the party's proposal.
