The party has previously announced that they want to see a ban on wearing the full-covering garments niqab and burqa in public places, but now also wants to introduce a ban on wearing the veil.
"We know that many girls and women are forced to wear these garments and that in many contexts it is a symbol of control and of women's subordination, quite simply," says Sara Gille, the party's spokesperson on equality and honor policy issues.
"Our ambition is to introduce a total ban on these Islamist garments," she continues.
According to Gille, an investigation should decide whether the proposal is compatible with religious freedom.
