On Sunday, the starting shot will be fired for a completely new biathlon competition, supersprint in roller skiing, in Munich. The major biathlon nations are sending several of their very best skiers, and so is Sweden. But Ella Halvarsson, Anna Magnusson, Johanna Skottheim, Martin Ponsiluoma, Jesper Nelin, and Viktor Brandt will also be joined by two unknown names. Johanna Nordqvist and Oscar Andersson, who are part of the development national team, have been selected to gain international experience.
”It's going to be incredibly fun to compete in an environment that doesn't resemble anything we've done before. I like the idea of taking biathlon out to the audience, and supersprint suits my skiing style. It's going to be fast, intense, and really fun”, says Ella Halvarsson, who took World Championship silver last winter.
