England is also the most likely quarter-final opponent for Sweden, after the blue and yellow group win was secured.
But nothing is clear until group D is finished, around 23:00 this evening. France will then meet the Netherlands in Basel, England will face Wales in St. Gallen.
Sweden will meet the group two in the quarterfinals.
It will be super exciting to see. Now it seems that France will be first and England second – but anything can happen, says the blue and yellow defender Magdalena Eriksson, who got to play her first European Championship match against Germany.
France tops
The Netherlands must surprise France to have a chance to advance as group two. France secures the group win with at least one point and then the way is open for England to become second – since the team is a big favorite against Wales.
Saturday evening's impressive 4–1 win over Germany in Zurich shows that Sweden does not need to fear any team. But Blue and Yellow had it tough against both France and England when they met in the European Championship qualifiers last year.
Against France, it was two losses and against England two draws.
I think we stood up better against England than France, if you look at both matches when we played against them. We were close to England, both match one and two. England I feel that we have a little momentum against, without being too cocky. I am very humble in the face of it being a good team, they showed it against Holland, says Eriksson.
Avoids Spain
What is already clear is that Sweden avoids the gold favorite Spain in a potential European Championship semi-final, thanks to the group win.
It's clear, if you jump a step, you'd rather avoid them in the semi-final, says Kosovare Asllani.
We wanted to win the group, it was the goal. But we cannot think beyond one match, the next match is the most important one we have in front of us.
