The Swedish team – with Sara Hector, Kristoffer Jakobsen, Estelle Alphand, and Fabian Ax Swartz – had previously defeated the Czech Republic in the round of 16 and the host nation Austria in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, Sweden was only a hundredth of a second from defeating Italy, but had to settle for a bronze match where the USA – which took the team gold in Méribel 2023 – was defeated 3–1 in the best of four matches.
The bronze is Sweden's first World Championship medal in the alpine team event since the silver in 2021. Even then, Hector, Jakobsen, and Alphand were part of the team. Two years ago, Sweden was eliminated in the round of 16.
The Swedish alpine national team has impressed during the World Cup winter and several skiers have shown promising form ahead of the World Championship in Austria. Not least Sara Hector, who has been on the podium in three of her five World Cup competitions this year – including one win in slalom.
Italy won the team event after defeating Switzerland in the final.
