During the night to Wednesday, SVT was exposed to new overload attacks, this reports SVT's Morgonstudion. Sweden is under attack in the sense that enormous extensive cyberattacks are ongoing all the time, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party).

Several overloading attacks against the public service company have created technical problems for SVT on Sunday and Monday. Another attack occurred on the night of Wednesday, causing disruptions to SVT Play.

According to Adde Granberg, who is the technology director at SVT, the latest attack against SVT began after 9 PM on Tuesday evening and continued throughout the night.

Someone or some people are sending enormous amounts of data to Sweden's television when we are supposed to send data to the public, other places and our internal systems. So we try to block that data and we try to lock it down. So it's a bit of a cat and mouse game together with our suppliers and our technicians who are sitting and actively working on this issue, says Adde Granberg to Morgonstudion.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson commented on the event in connection with a party leader debate in the Riksdag.

Sweden is under attack in the sense that there are extremely extensive cyber attacks going on all the time, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) and continues:

Many of the attacks that are dangerous for Sweden are not only directed against state authorities but also against vital Swedish companies.

Granberg also says that the attacks will continue but hopes that they will be able to stand up and says that he has difficulty speculating about who is behind it.

This is not a prank from home, it's someone who wants to influence Swedish society.

Since SVT is part of the total defense, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is cooperating with the public service company to investigate the attacks.

Correction: In an earlier version, it was stated that the Riksdag's website had also been affected, which has been denied.
