The top man had been charged with gross misconduct against creditors, and his partner with aiding and abetting the same crime, after he gave the multi-million-dollar amount as a gift to her.
Prosecutors claimed that the purpose of the gift was to prevent the money from being used to pay damages to the Pensions Authority. However, both the district court and the Court of Appeal have ruled that he was not liable to pay damages to the authority, and in December last year the Attorney General announced that an appeal had been filed with the Supreme Court.
