USA's highest court has given President Donald Trump green light to continue freezing equivalent tens of billions of kronor in aid.

The decision, made on Friday evening, means that Trump will receive legal support in his attempts to reclaim around four billion dollars that Congress has allocated for aid.

The three liberal judges in the Supreme Court opposed the ruling.

The Supreme Court's decision does not mean that the final word has been said in the financing dispute, which in total covers around 30 billion dollars that Congress has approved for programs spanning several years. Two ongoing lawsuits, initiated by non-profit organizations and international aid agencies, will bring clarity on whether the executive power has the right to block payments decided by Congress.
