Strong winds are expected on Tuesday in southern California. The gusts increase the risk of new fires again, two weeks after two large wildfires that are still raging in the Los Angeles area started.
Wind gusts of up to 31 meters per second along the coast and 44 in the mountains are expected on Tuesday morning local time.
The weather agency NWS has issued a warning of a "particularly dangerous situation" for parts of Los Angeles, Ventura, and San Diego from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning due to low humidity and dry and strong so-called Santa Ana winds.
The conditions are ripe for an explosive fire growth if a fire starts, says meteorologist Andrew Rorke at NWS in Oxnard.
