On Tuesday, Gunnar Strömmer had a meeting in Rabat with Morocco's Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi about organized crime.
This afternoon, the ministers signed a declaration of intent on deeper cooperation in the area.
"Sweden and Morocco already have fruitful cooperation in legal matters. And through this declaration of intent, we are now deepening that cooperation further. From Sweden's side, we look forward to the continued exchange between the authorities of our two countries," says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer in a press release.
Also on the trip are representatives from the Economic Crime Authority, the Prosecution Authority and the Police.
The Ministry of Justice does not want to answer how many gang criminals with connections to Swedish gangs are in Morocco, but the assessment is that there are such people in the country.
According to a survey from SVT, there are at least three key individuals within the criminal networks.
Recently, the police presented a situation report on gang crime in Sweden, which showed that 800 people are estimated to influence serious crime in Sweden from abroad.
Gunnar Strömmer has previously visited Turkey and the United Arab Emirates on similar matters. Sweden has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Iraq.
