The Social Democrats demand a plan to stop the explosions

This is a national crisis, says S leader Magdalena Andersson.

The action plan that S demands should include more police in affected areas and a national support team for those affected by explosions. The party is also willing to cooperate to quickly get relevant legislative proposals through the Riksdag.

If there are legislative proposals that need to be quickly passed, I do not rule it out, says Andersson.

A possible legislative proposal for expedited handling is to allow secret surveillance of children. An investigative proposal was presented in December. The proposal meant that secret coercive measures would be allowed against children under 15 years old, if the suspected crime has at least four years' imprisonment in the penalty scale.

"Let the military relieve"

At a press conference on Wednesday, the police stated that criminals' access to perpetrators of violent crimes is "outrageous" and that the increase among those under 15 years old is dramatic.

Even SD's law and order spokesperson Richard Jomshof wants to expedite such legislation.

It's clear we want to do it. Because it's about hitting the gangs, he says.

It's something we should have in place as soon as possible.

SD will also push for the issue of how the military can relieve the police in various ways and thereby free up resources.

It's incredibly important, says Jomshof.

Meeting on Thursday

He also reiterates SD's demand that the age of criminal responsibility should be lowered to 13 years and cover more types of crimes than just the most serious. On Tuesday, the government's investigator proposed lowering the age limit to 14 years for crimes with a minimum sentence of four years.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) says that January's explosions are something a decent society cannot accept. He has convened the Council against Organized Crime for a meeting on Thursday. This includes, among others, the police, customs, the Prosecutor-General, and the Tax Authority.

The meeting has only one item on the agenda, summarized by Strömmer:

What more can be done, both individually and jointly, to break the violence spiral.

He does not want to answer whether he expects new measures to be presented after the meeting.
