Strängnäs Diocese Continues Review of Birgitta Ed’s Suitability to Serve as a Priest

The cathedral chapter of the Diocese of Strängnäs is continuing its investigation into whether Birgitta Ed, the wife of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, is suitable to serve as a priest.

The investigation was on the agenda in both August and September, but the matter was not included at the latest meeting in October, reports SVT Sörmland.

However, the latest minutes from the cathedral chapter show that the matter has not yet been concluded.

“The matter is still being processed. That is sometimes how it is, and there is nothing strange about that,” says Anette Pantzare, an administrator in the Diocese of Strängnäs.

The background is that the cathedral chapter, which supervises activities in the diocese, has received 29 reports linked to Aftonbladet’s investigation into the Fållökna Foundation.

The investigation showed that the foundation recruited volunteers who worked for free to renovate a mansion near Malmköping owned by Ed and a close friend of hers, in exchange for “a good network.”
