In just under two weeks, Stockholmers and businesses have been urged to save water. This is because unusually high water temperatures in Mälaren made it difficult to purify the water at the same time as the school start, which usually drives up water consumption.
But now, people in Stockholm no longer need to save water, announces Stockholm water and waste in a press release.
"I want to extend a warm thank you to both Stockholmers and businesses. Your effort has yielded results. By being extra frugal, we have together reduced consumption by 15 percent", says Christian Rockberger, CEO of Stockholm water and waste.
It has only happened once before that Stockholmers have been urged to save water, in the summer of 2018.
