The stock exchange's large-cap index, OMXS30, is seeing broad gains. Engineering company Sandvik is up 3.2 percent.
Mining group Boliden announced this morning a billion-SEK investment in Garpenberg and Rönnskär; its shares rose 1.4 percent. Telecom manufacturer Ericsson continues to lose ground, down 0.1 percent.
Leading European stock exchanges are also starting to rise.
The price of North Sea oil fell back slightly overnight. On Wednesday morning, it is trading at just over $102 per barrel. U.S. WTI oil is also down, trading at just over $93 per barrel.
This evening, the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) will release its interest rate statement. The Fed is expected to leave its key interest rate unchanged.
