The fire destroyed 100 beds and led to 200 sailors being checked for smoke inhalation, one of whom had to be evacuated from the ship. The material damage has meant that some on board have had to make do with makeshift beds.
The actual extinguishing took a couple of hours, while the entire operation, including post-extinguishing checks and control, took around 30 hours.
The fire was not caused by an attack or other hostile activity, according to the US Navy.
The ship plays a key role in US operations against Iran.
