During the afternoon, it was announced that telecom manufacturer Ericsson's CEO Börje Ekholm would be leaving his post. The stock fell 4.2 percent, the worst performer among the most traded stocks.
Telecom operator Tele2 also had a tough day, down 2 percent.
Engineering companies Alfa Laval and Atlas Copco, on the other hand, rose 2.9 and 2.3 percent, respectively.
Outside the large-company list, directory enquiry company Truecaller rose 14.2 percent on news that it had seen a marginal increase in revenue from a partner.
At the close in Stockholm, the stock exchanges in Frankfurt, London and Paris were all up. In New York, two of the three major indexes were down.
North Sea oil was $79.90, after a decline of 3.9 percent during the day.
