Stockholm Stock Exchange Opens September with Gains

The Stockholm stock exchange begins the week and the month on the plus side.

Stockholm Stock Exchange Opens September with Gains

Just before 11 o'clock, the broad index is traded at plus 0.5 percent.

At the top of the OMXS30 index with the most traded shares are the major bank Nordea and the engineering company Atlas Copco, which rise by 1.7 and 2 percent, respectively.

The engineering company ABB weighs down the index and is down 0.7 percent.

In Asia, the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei 225 closed at minus 1.2 percent. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange rose to 2.2 percent, thanks to Alibaba which soared by 19 percent.

In the USA, the stock exchanges are closed on Monday due to a public holiday.

The silver price rises to over 40 dollars per ounce for the first time since 2011. The gold price also rises and is near its highest level.
