Onemus Kiplagat Kiplimo won the race in 2.11.34, eleven seconds ahead of his compatriot Edwin Kosgei and 27 seconds ahead of another Kenyan, Silas Sugut.

Kosgei seemed to have decided the race when they left the city center and ran out onto Strandvägen. But Kiplimo caught up with Kosgei and passed him on Narvavägen, about three kilometers from the finish. He then extended his lead and could take a comfortable victory – despite running the wrong way outside Stockholm Stadium.
Hässelby's Samuel Russom took the SM gold. He finished eighth, just over five minutes behind the winner, in a time of 2.16.39.
