The answer to what caused a major listeria outbreak in Stockholm may be delayed, the environmental administration announces.

Preliminary test results have shown that listeria was present on both surfaces and food at the luxury restaurant Coco & Carmen, the environmental administration announced on Monday. But the final test results – which are expected to show what actually caused the outbreak of illness – will be delayed for a few more days.

"We need to receive all the final test results to get a comprehensive picture and make an analysis. We hope to have an answer by the end of this week", writes Lovisa Grimsell, communicator at the environmental administration in the City of Stockholm, in an email to TT.

Over 150 people have visited hospitals in the Stockholm region after visiting Coco & Carmen at the end of September. The guests who fell ill ate a tasting menu with 14 dishes. The restaurant has been closed pending the test results.
