Stockholm Derby Ends in Dramatic 3-3 Draw as Djurgården Scores Late

Hammarby lead until the 95th minute in the Stockholm derby. Then Djurgården's Adam Ståhl stepped forward on the corner and equalized – the very last thing that happened in the match that ended 3–3. It's probably the ugliest goal I've made in my career, but the ball devil went in and it was damn important today, says Ståhl to HBO Max.

”Bajen” took an early lead when Markus Karlsson made it 1–0 after Djurgården had been sloppy in defense. Just three minutes later, Hammarby captain Nahir Besara extended the lead to 2–0 with a delicious free kick from 30 meters.

Besara's goal celebration was not appreciated by the Djurgården players, who stepped in and marked, which started one of the derby's several clashes between the players.

New acquisition with goal

The goal celebration was for my son, it was nothing against the Djurgården fans. I did it in the previous match as well, said Besara at halftime.

Before 45 minutes had been played, Djurgården reduced the score to 1–2. Then it was Hammarby's turn to be sloppy in defense, and Rasmus Schüller was able to set up the ball for new acquisition Jeppe Okkels, who thus scored his first goal for Djurgården.

Early in the second half, the home team equalized. Mikael Anderson's corner was headed by Adam Ståhl and then went in via a Hammarby player.

”So damn good”

Hammarby regained the lead when Paulos Abraham ran along the right flank and played the ball in to Montader Madjed, who came running into the box and scored his fifth goal of the season.

In the very final stages of the match, Djurgården was awarded a corner, which Adam Ståhl scored on, giving the blue and white team a point.

It's so damn good, so damn good.

I think we overall play a good match, then we give them too easy goals. We work well, get chances, we score some balls and then, like, I pass the ball with the balls, it was "doggystyle", says Ståhl.

A goal that the Hammarby players did not think should be allowed, as Djurgården's Daniel Stensson obstructed goalkeeper Warner Hahn at the corner.

Poor derby record

Djurgården has a tough derby record, but the late equalizer improved the statistics.

It means a lot, one point instead of zero, but we wanted more today. We score three goals today, which is strong, we have had problems with the derbies, but we also concede three. Then Nahir makes a world-class free kick and so on, they are fine goals, but we wanted more. But we still got a result, says Ståhl.

Second-placed Hammarby is now ten points behind league leaders Mjällby. Djurgården is eighth in the table.
