The Swedish-Swiss automation concern ABB reported a strong start to the year in the morning. The concern also announced that it will spin off the Robotics division in 2026. The stock climbed several percent at the opening, but ended with a calm plus of 0.2 percent.

The OMXS has now fallen 6.4 percent since the turn of the year.

After the Stockholm Stock Exchange closed, the European Central Bank announced that it would lower the so-called deposit rate by 0.25 percentage points to 2.25 percent – the same level as the Swedish Central Bank's repo rate. The decision was expected and the market reactions were marginal.

The Frankfurt and Paris stock exchanges fell 0.5 and 0.6 percent, respectively, while the London stock exchange rose 0.2 percent.

In New York, the stock exchange's leading indices developed in different directions in the initial trading. Just over two hours after the opening, the broad S&P index had risen 0.3 percent, the Dow Jones industrial index had fallen 1.2 percent, and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index had fallen 0.2 percent.
