China's large military parade may offer straight lines and synchronized movements, but the country's stock exchanges are moving for the day significantly less coordinated.
At lunchtime, Shanghai's composite index stood at minus 0.4 percent, Shenzhen at plus 0.4 - and Hong Kong-based Hang Seng at a slightly unchanged level.
On Wednesday, China celebrates that it is 80 years since the Second World War ended. In Beijing, a large military parade is being held, to which several world leaders have been invited. President Xi also took the opportunity to give a speech that the country is "unstoppable".
The market reactions look cool, however.
Also in Japan and South Korea, the stock market movements vary. The Nikkei 225 fell back at lunchtime by 0.3 percent, while the Kospi saw an increase of 0.2 percent at the same time.
