Most of the leading stock exchanges in Asia continue the trading week in a cheerful manner in a situation where many investors are looking for alternatives to American securities due to Donald Trump's unpredictable trade policy.
In Tokyo, the important Nikkei 225 index and the broader Topix index had increased by 1.6 percent each by lunchtime.
Hong Kong was even more cheerful as the Hang Seng index grew by 1.8 percent.
Meanwhile, the composite index in Shenzhen added 0.3 percent, while the composite index in Shanghai fluctuated around zero.
