Golf star Henrik Stenson confirms that he has paid a fine of around eight million kronor to be able to return to the European Tour, DP World Tour. "It is true that the DP World Tour fines have been paid," he tells Svensk golf.

He tells the newspaper that it is not about a full-scale comeback, however.

"It gives me an opportunity to play the Senior Open in the summer when it is coordinated between the R&A and the DP World Tour and a reason to resolve that situation. When you turn 50 you need to play a competition on the DP World Tour to meet the membership requirements so there will be at least one competition next season, but which one or which ones have not been decided," he says.

It was the golf site Bunkered that stated on Monday that Stenson had paid the fine to be able to move back from the controversial LIV tour, where he has played since 2022. This year, however, he ended up far down in the overall standings and left the tour.

Bunkered stated that the fine was one million pounds, equivalent to just over 12 million kronor. Stenson tells SVT that the actual amount was 625,000 pounds, just under eight million kronor.
