Stena Line is purchasing Wasaline and thus taking over the operation of the ferry line between Umeå and Vaasa, Stena Line writes in a press release.

"Wasaline's staff on shore and on board will continue as before with the fine service we have today. This will mean a major boost for the region with major positive synergies," says Peter Ståhlberg, CEO of Wasaline in the press release.

The ship Aurora Botnia will continue to be owned by the cities of Umeå and Vaasa through their joint company Kvarken Link.

The transaction is conditional and requires approval by the city councils in both cities, among other things. Occupancy is expected to occur in early 2026.
