A former US government spokesperson, and the wife of one of Donald Trump's closest associates, has posted a photo showing Greenland draped in the colors of the American flag.

"Soon," wrote former spokesperson Katie Miller when she posted the photo on X.

Miller's post has sparked reactions on social media, where several million users have seen it and several thousand have commented.

It has also drawn reactions in Denmark, of which Greenland is a part. Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that Greenland should become part of the United States, a proposal Denmark has repeatedly rejected. The Danish ambassador to the United States, Jesper Møller Sørensen, responded on X:

"Just a friendly reminder about the relationship between the United States and the Kingdom of Denmark: We are close allies and should continue to work together as such. The security of the United States is also the security of Greenland and Denmark."

Katie Miller was also an adviser to multi-billionaire Elon Musk last year when he was given executive powers by President Trump.

After that, she started her own conservative media project aimed at the so-called MAGA movement in the US.

She is married to Trump's deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller.
