State Department Urges Reporting of 'Unchristian' Behavior

Employees at the US Department of State are being urged to report colleagues who exhibit "unchristian" behavior, reports Politico. It feels very much like "The Handmaid's Tale", says an anonymous official to the news site.

A newly established group has been tasked with gathering information about employees at the American State Department, writes Politico.

This will, among other things, be done with the help of anonymous reports and tips from other employees. The group will then meet on April 22 to discuss their initial findings.

All American embassies received the message in a telegram signed by Foreign Minister Marco Rubio, according to Politico. An employee compares it to the TV series "The Handmaid's Tale", which is based on Margaret Atwood's classic dystopia about a future totalitarian USA.

In a presidential decree issued in February, the previous government under Joe Biden is accused of having "targeted" peaceful Christians and ignored violent, non-Christian crimes. As an example, about 20 anti-abortion activists are said to have been imprisoned after "praying" and demonstrating outside abortion clinics.

Several media outlets, including Politico and the news agency AP, have previously established that the individuals in question were convicted of, among other things, breaking into abortion clinics and physically blocking the facilities.
