Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead in their home. Now their 32-year-old son is in custody, suspected of murder.

Police Chief Jim McDonnell confirms at a press conference that the son has been arrested and that bail has been set at the equivalent of 44 million kronor.

They (the homicide squad) worked all night on this case and were able to take him into custody, McDonnell said at a press conference.

It was on Sunday afternoon, local time, that Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Several American media outlets are reporting that the couple had injuries consistent with knife violence. According to sources at The Los Angeles Times, there were no signs of a break-in.

Rob Reiner was born into a family of actors and was the son of American comedy legend Carl Reiner.

He broke through as an actor in the TV hit "Under the Same Roof", but is best known in Sweden as the director of a number of memorable films in the 1980s and 1990s. Among them are "Spinal Tap", "Stand by Me", "When Harry Met Sally", "Lida" and "On Honor and Conscience".
