Before the World Championships in Japan, the list of achievements already consisted of three major gold medals: World Championships in Doha 2019, Olympics in Tokyo 2021, World Championships in Budapest 2023.
However, the success in the Tokyo World Cup was of a different caliber - in terms of life on the side.
"I've understood how big it was for many people there on the TV couches. It had such an impact here at home," he says.
Recognized in town
Daniel Ståhl, who mastered the long and wet discus final in the best possible way, threw 70.47 meters in the sixth and final round - and a moment later was able to celebrate his "fourth global gold medal", as he himself calls it.
However, the 33-year-old didn't get to savor the sweetness of victory for too long in Tokyo. The very next day, a long journey awaited him via Copenhagen and home to Malmö.
But at home, the discus star has been able to celebrate his success in Japan - including with people he meets in town.
I get recognized almost everywhere. It's so incredibly funny how many people have seen what I've done and come up to congratulate me.
Is it more now than before, then?
Yes, it's so incredibly cool.
Daniel Ståhl likes the attention and has learned to live with it. Nowadays he also knows that a short stop to buy a few things is an impossibility.
If I need to buy something quickly, like eggs and milk, then it might be better to send someone else, he says.
Dreaming of Los Angeles
With three World Championship gold medals and one Olympic gold medal, the star has managed to achieve what he dreamed of most.
But the dreams are not over for the veteran.
His career continues on the same path that he and coach Staffan Jönsson have set out on - and he is aiming for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
That's where we're going, he says.
Are you aiming for gold there too?
It's going to be really tough.
I'm going there and my goal is to throw as far as possible. I'm not promising Olympic gold in advance, I never do.
Daniel Ståhl will turn 36 during the 2028 Olympic year - but he does not see the Summer Games on the West Coast of the United States as the final destination of his career.
I don't have an end date.
