Jönköping Municipality has reported itself to the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate (Ivo) after serious deficiencies were found at a nursing home. Among other things, an employee allegedly lodged a complaint against an elderly resident.

The municipality has noted shortcomings in treatment, procedures and competence, and that the nursing home has ignored alarms.

"Here we have failed in our mission. Elderly people should be safe, treated with respect and not feel anxious in their own home," says Jenny Wiberg Larsson, area manager for elderly care, in a press release.

The deficiencies apply to three out of nine units. Wiberg Larsson regrets what happened.

“Elderly care must be something you can trust.”

The person who handed out ear files is no longer working, and staff groupings have been dissolved.
