Elaine Thompson-Herah took gold in both the 100 metres and the 200 metres at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and in Tokyo 2021 – but in Paris this summer, she will not be able to repeat the incredible feat.
The Jamaican has, in fact, decided to focus all her energy on the 100 metres. She has chosen not to participate in the domestic Olympic qualifying event for the 200 metres at the end of June.
The 31-year-old Thompson-Herah has had problems with an injury lately.
The 37-year-old veteran Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who won Olympic gold in the 100 metres in 2008 and 2012, has entered the qualifying events for both the 100 and 200 metres.
