The reports we have received from our measuring stations confirm that spring has now arrived in southern and western Skåne and Östergarnsholm on Gotland, said SMHI meteorologist Emma Rosengren.
For it to be called meteorological spring, the average daily temperature must be above zero for at least seven consecutive days.
Despite an unusually cold winter, the timing of spring's arrival is normal.
From mid-February you can usually see an upward trend. There can still be setbacks, that's part of the season, but this locked-in cold situation that we've had shouldn't be counted on, said Emma Rosengren.
On Saturday, sunny weather is expected in large parts of Norrland and, with the help of the sun, temperatures could rise above zero even in the far north.
