South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung has called for increased vigilance, and on Wednesday the authorities raised the terror threat level by one notch for parts of the capital, which will be in effect until midnight on Saturday, writes The Guardian.
The K-pop group is set to perform at Gwanghwamun Square in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace the day after the release of their fifth studio album “Arirang.” Up to 260,000 people are expected to attend the event.
The risk of an attack cannot be ruled out, given the international security situation. The US embassy is located approximately 160 meters from the scene.
