South Korea is heavily dependent on fossil fuels from the Persian Gulf. Since the outbreak of the war, authorities in Seoul have urged its 50 million-plus residents to take shorter showers, walk and cycle more, and not charge phones when electricity demand is highest.
In South Korea, it is mandatory to use a special type of garbage bag. However, if there is a real shortage, the authorities are open to relaxing these rules.
