Sources close to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani say that the alliance supporting him has won. The figures are not yet confirmed after Tuesday's election. There are also usually thorny coalition negotiations to form a government, so it is not yet certain that al-Sudani will get a second term.
The alliance went to the elections under the collective name Reconstruction and Development.
