Witnesses who remain anonymous for fear of reprisals say in interviews that text messaging services are still down and that foreign websites cannot be accessed on the internet. However, local, government-approved websites can be accessed.
It has not been possible to call back the Iranian numbers that people have managed to call out from, reports the AP's Dubai bureau.
AFP's correspondent also reports that international calls are again working from Iran, but it has not been possible to confirm to what extent.
The telecom blockade was imposed on Thursday and has meant that very little information about the ongoing protests has reached outside Iran.
Communication has been limited to satellite connections and contact with neighboring countries' telephone networks along Iran's borders.
